The Viral Dubai Chocolate Bar Is Back — And It's Actually Better This Time

Remember last year when that Dubai chocolate bar — the one filled with pistachio and kunafa — went absolutely viral? People were paying $50 for a single bar on eBay. There were fights outside shops in London. It was ridiculous. I tried one back then and honestly? It was good, but not "wait in line for hours" good. The hype was out of control.

Well, they're back. The original maker, Fix Dessert Chocolatier, released a new version in May 2026. I got my hands on one — legitimately, through their official website, no scalper prices — and I have thoughts.

What Changed?

The original bar was milk chocolate with a filling of pistachio paste and crispy kunafa (shredded phyllo dough). It was sweet, textural, and fun. The new version uses a darker chocolate — 55% cacao instead of 35% — and the filling has been tweaked. There's now a layer of tahini in there. It adds a savory, nutty depth that balances the sweetness perfectly. The kunafa is thicker and crunchier, almost like a brittle. It's a massive upgrade.

The Texture Is Everything

When you bite into it, you get this "snap" from the tempered chocolate, then a soft chew from the pistachio, then a crackle from the kunafa. It's a symphony of textures. I'm not being dramatic — it's genuinely one of the most satisfying eating experiences I've had this year. I shared it with four friends and everyone had the same reaction: wide eyes, silence, then "where do I get this?"

Is It Worth the Money?

The official price is $29 for a 200g bar. That's expensive for chocolate. But it's hand-made in Dubai, uses premium ingredients, and the packaging is gorgeous. Compared to what people paid on the secondary market last year, $29 is a bargain. I'd pay it again. I might buy a few as gifts. But I won't pay a scalper. Just wait for the restock.

The Hype Is Real This Time

The 2025 version was overhyped. The 2026 version is legitimately excellent. If you see it in stock, buy it. If you're in Dubai, go to their shop in Al Wasl. They have a new pistachio ice cream too that's incredible. The whole thing feels less like a trend and more like a genuine artisan product that deserves attention. I'm glad I gave it a second chance.
